Miles Davis, Newport Jazz Festival 1990, photo by Herb Snitzer
This magazine's purpose is to focus intelligent discussion on directions in music since 1968. When Miles Davis was asked the name of the 38-minute tune he and his band had just performed for the 600,000 people gathered at the Isle of Wight, he said "call it anything." Literal-minded discographers have persistently entitled the tune "Call It Anything" ever since... So a secondary purpose for this blog is to give me a place to write about anything I have on my mind, and call it anything.
